Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose as defined in the Oxford English dictionary. So what are the traits or characteristics that successful people have, that set them apart from the average everyday person? I call them the 6Cs of Success.
There are many different traits and these shown below reflect my opinion from personal observation and are not listed in specific order of importance.
1. Clarity of Purpose
Having a clear specific vision, focus and understanding of what they want to achieve. These goals or objectives are clearly stated often in written format to reinforce to themselves why they are doing certain activities.
Doing what they enjoy with enthusiasm, working unusual or long hours and always remaining persistent no matter what obstacles may come their way. They are resourceful and know where to go for assistance and where to find needed resources. Monitoring their progress to stay on track is part of their strategy and they do not take anything for granted. These people are also prepared to adapt and change where it is necessary in order to see the task to completion.
The next characteristic in the 6Cs of success is confidence. These people always approach their tasks looking at solutions not excuses and take calculated risks in return for potential reward. Often this will take enormous courage as they can often venture into unfamiliar territory, but are willing to take a leap of faith, where others fear to tread, because they have confidence in their ability. These people lead by example and prove they are right, instead of following the crowd. They have a presence about themselves and instil confidence in those that associate with them.
They are willing to look, listen and learn in order to help them achieve their objectives and invest in tools that help them become a better person, from reading, attending seminars or listening to educational courses.
They arm themselves with an abundance of knowledge and expertise to gain competence to achieve their objectives. Successful people don’t talk about what they going to do, but rather take positive action and implement a well though out plan.
Networking or associating with other like-minded successful people is part of their routine. They are not afraid to ask questions of others who have a superior knowledge on a specific topic which they need information and are open to new ideas or concepts.
Being a successful person does not necessarily mean becoming enormously wealthy in money terms; however they derive enormous personal satisfaction in achieving what they set out to do. Most successful people are driven by achieving their own outcomes which may be irrelevant to any material gain. If you follow the 6Cs of success displayed above, there is no limit to what you can achieve.
